With the recent change to the ACS controller that is now requiring the PT1000 probe, it is important that the correct probe is installed in an S-Series pellet grill. Using the incorrect probe WILL cause the controller to operate improperly. Click on the link below to learn how to check this on your grill.

The old Type J thermocouple has the red and white wires coming out of the steel braided cover. Both of the wires on the PT1000 are white.

Unfortunately Joey, it does not appear to be that simple. I ordered a PT1000 Thermocouple from ATBBQ.com for an S series pellet smoker (vague listing) and received a PT1000 for a YS1500s per the included instruction sheet. I verified that my firmware was better than the firmware in the link. My firmware is 1.4.10 as verified in the "advanced settings" menu.

I am having severe temperature differences so thought it may be the thermocouple, makes sense to me? The TC I received doesn't appear to be the correct TC for a YS480s as your website ordering page claims it to be. There were no options to choose red/white or white/white but they sent me red/white when they should have known I needed white/white. It clearly states that my cooker "should" have the TC with the 2 white wires. If anyone at Yoder would have looked up my previous ordering with ATBBQ, they would be able to confirm what controller and firmware I have. I cannot use my smoker at all for safety reasons. I recently had a FIRE due to the contoller not working properly. Please advise!

Just to add ... I was planning to perform a temperature test per the Yoder Service Manager but I should really have the proper TC to do this? Right now, I own a $2k brick!
